Located 2 hours north of New York City in the western Catskills, the Arnold House is a country retreat. Set on 80 acres of land with custom trails, and nestled into the forest of Shandelee Mountain, staying at The Arnold is an experience more akin to staying with old friends than a traditional hotel.

Our sixteen guest rooms are situated across four buildings on our property: The Main Building, The Garden House, Shandelee Post, and Bobbie’s Farmhouse. The rooms are designed to be warm and inviting. All feature either natural cork or original wood floors, a mix of antique & modern furniture with vintage fixtures. Cozy down duvet bedding, Sferra towels and bathrobes and an uncluttered design makes these rooms an easy place to wind down.
02. EAT & DRINKThe Tavern
Our Tavern is much the same now as it has been for the past 50 years. Guests will find friendly, warm and lively service and a menu that embraces comfortable accessibility and local ingredients including trout from our world famous rivers and hearty venison stews. There is a pool table, jukebox and spontaneous singing is encouraged. A deck just outside the sunroom offers cocktails and full tavern fare in the summer, and our wood stoves keep guests cozy in the cooler months.
03. Activities & EventsSullivan County offers a wealth of activities to choose from year-round and The Arnold House Team can help you craft the perfect itinerary for your weekend away.
We offer private lunches, brunches, afternoon teas, dinners or cocktail parties and weddings from 10 to 200 people. These events can be held in our Tavern, Shandelee Hall Dining Room, Sun Room, Greenhouse, newly renovated Barn & Greenhouse or outside in the meadows and gardens.

Another popular option is to escape to the Arnold for a group getaway, by renting all 14 rooms, you have the 'House' to yourself. Our chef can work with you to create group dinner menus and our team can organize many different activities - both on and offsite - during your stay.
